After finishing my CPL/IR and MCC via the “Modular” route, it
was clear that I needed something extra to get me top the top
of the pile. I first came across the TRTO through one of their
online ads, and after filling in an information request form,
promptly received a phone call that answered all my questions,
plus an email with more information.
I decided to take up the type rating and 150 hours line training
course with easyJet a few weeks later. I was pleased that any
email query I had was answered very quickly. I was given a start
date, and began my type rating at the FSC facility in Amsterdam.
The TRTO were very helpful with regards to accommodation during
the type rating, I shared a flat with others who were on different
stages of the scheme which I found invaluable. The type rating
was hard work and very rewarding, the trainers were excellent
and supportive. I really felt that every day I progressed one
step closer to achieving my goal.
After the type rating I returned to the UK where I unfortunately
had to wait a few weeks before base training, this was due to
my criminal record check taking some time to come through, so
I had to wait for my airside pass! Base check day was very exciting,
once again the trainers were excellent. I began my line training
a few days later, I really enjoyed it, the trainers were outstanding.
The 150 hours went by in two months, I was very pleased when I
passed my final line check in December 2008.
In February 2009 I received an email, offering me a summer contract
with easyJet! I was very pleased that I had this opportunity and
I know the TRTO worked hard to place their cadets. Now that the
summer season is coming to an end, I have over 500 hours on type
and am very pleased with the way things have turned out.
If I had known what I know now before I started, would I make
the same choices again? The answer to that is a resounding Yes!
